No hourly rates, no invoice creep, no drama. Read more about the team.
What we do
Our Electrical Services in Coogee
Six things we get called for, day in and day out. All of it done to AS/NZS 3000, with Clipsal and Hager switchgear on the wall, not cheap imports.
Switchboard Upgrades
Rewireable fuses gone, RCBOs and proper labelling in their place. Switchboard upgrades are what an old board needs before anything else gets added to it, and they change how safe a house is overnight.

Light Installation
Downlights, pendants, garden and security lights, planned before anything gets cut. Double brick makes the cable run the real work, and we're on Beach Street most weeks for light installation.
Learn more
EV Charger Installation
Wallbox chargers, tested, tidy and on their own circuit. EV charger installation starts with the board, because a charger draws more than most homes were ever built to carry.

Emergency Electrician
Burning smells, sparks, no power at all. Ring and an emergency electrician works out what is safe to isolate before anybody sets off.
Learn more
Level 2 Electrician
The service line, the consumer mains, the meter connection, the point of attachment. Our Level 2 electrician accreditation covers the stretch between the network and your board that a general sparkie cannot legally touch.
Learn more
Residential Electrician
Fault finding, power points, ceiling fans, smoke alarms and rewires. A residential electrician job here is usually half diagnosis and half getting cable through walls that were never built to carry it.

Local knowledge
Local Knowledge, From Federation Wiring to New Builds
Victorian and Federation cottages and beach houses sit shoulder to shoulder with apartment blocks here, and both ends of that mix throw up their own wiring.
The cottages came first, most of them before 1940. The wiring in them predates almost every appliance now plugged into it.
Ceramic fuse boards are still common. A lot of the pre-war cottages and older blocks have never had the board touched, and rewireable fuses do not protect people the way a modern safety switch (RCD) does.
So that is the first thing we look at. Fuses out, RCBOs in, every circuit labelled so nobody is guessing in the dark.
The 1980s to 2000s builds are a different animal. More circuits and better cable, but boards sized for a kettle and a telly rather than an induction cooktop and a car charger.
Arden Street and Carr Street show the mix in one block. A cottage nobody has touched can sit right beside one stripped back and rebuilt, and each needs its own plan.
We read the house first. That is what local knowledge actually buys you.
Why So Many Locals Choose Us
Plenty of the homes here are rented, and plenty are owned by people early in their working life who would rather not become experts in switchboards. So we do the explaining, and we deal with tenants, agents and owners without anyone having to chase us.
Fast When It Counts
Fast response is the thing people remember. Genuine emergencies get triaged over the phone by a qualified sparkie, and everything else gets a booking that fits your week.
The Work Is Guaranteed for Life
Our lifetime workmanship guarantee means that if our work caused it, we come back and fix it at no cost, whenever it turns up. There is a 12-month product warranty sitting behind the gear as well.
Fifty Dollars Off Before You Start
New customers get $50 off your first service, and quotes cost nothing either way. Mariano, from our Google reviews, is still calling us after years of jobs and reckons the standard has held the whole way.
Rated Five Stars, Six Hundred Times Over
600+ five-star reviews from Sydney homeowners is a record you can go and read for yourself. Every one was left after a job like yours.
How we work
How We Work: Quote to Compliance Certificate
Four steps, and none of them a surprise. You know what it costs before we start, and you know exactly what happened once we leave.
- 01
Tell Us What It Is Doing
Ring and describe the fault. We'll book you in for a time that suits, and a text lands the day before to confirm it so nobody sits around waiting.
- 02
We Look, Then We Price
The sparkie looks at the actual job, not a photo of it. You get a fixed written price before we start, explained in plain English, with the testing and the paperwork already in it.
- 03
The Work Gets Done Properly
Drop sheets down and the place left tidy. We fit premium switchgear and fittings, and we work around you rather than taking over the house for a week.
- 04
Tested, Certified, Handed Back
Everything is tested before we sign off. Notifiable work gets a Certificate of Compliance, and completion photos come through so you can see what ended up inside the walls.
An Electrical Emergency in Coogee? Act Fast
Some faults can wait for Tuesday. These ones cannot.
- A burning smell coming off a socket, a switch plate or the board itself
- A bang or a flash when a plug goes in
- Brown or melted marks around a socket
- A safety switch that flips straight back off
- Bare wiring showing after a fitting has come down
- Your place dead while next door has lights on
If the whole street is dark, the outage belongs to Ausgrid and not to your wiring. Everything from the meter into your place is our job.
Turn it off at the switchboard and call (02) 9134 9029. A qualified electrician picks up, not an answering service, and we respond fast, often same or next day for everything that is not urgent.
Strata, Units and the Boards Behind Them
Units and apartments run right through this postcode alongside the houses. The blocks went up from the 1930s onward and never really stopped, so strata and unit work is ordinary work here, not a sideline.
Conversions and renovations drive the demand. Knock a wall out, put a real kitchen in, add a car charger downstairs, and the original board becomes the weakest link in the place.
We work with owners corporations, building managers and individual lot owners, and we are used to the paperwork and the access rules that come with each.
One thing worth knowing: the meter box, the common property runs and your own board are three separate jobs with three different sets of permission attached. Ask us which one you are actually dealing with before you spend a dollar.
Common Faults We See Around the 2034 Postcode
Two faults come up over and over in the older stock here, and both come down to how old the housing is.
No safety switches on the circuits. Houses that have dodged renovation often have no safety switch protection whatsoever, which is legal to leave alone and a genuinely bad idea. That is a switchboard upgrade, priced before we touch it.
Rewires during renovations. Period cottages and beachside semis around here get renovated hard, and once the linings are off, aged wiring has nowhere left to hide. A rewire done while the walls are open beats one done after them.
Neither is an emergency. Both get worse.

Common questions
Coogee Electrician FAQs
Six questions the office gets asked most weeks. Short answers, the same ones you would get if you rang us.
Can you install an EV charger at home?
Yes, and the first thing we check is whether the board can handle it, because a charger pulls more than most houses were built for. If it can't, that gets priced before anything is installed.
Do you charge a call-out fee in Coogee?
No call-out fee for quotes. We turn up, price the job on the spot in writing, and that goes for Clovelly, Kensington and Kingsford too.
What electrical services do you offer?
Switchboard upgrades, lighting, power points, EV chargers, rewires, fault finding, data cabling, smoke alarms, plus Level 2 accredited work on the service line. Homes are the bulk of it.
Do I get a Certificate of Compliance after the work?
Yes. Notifiable electrical work gets a Certificate of Compliance lodged with NSW Fair Trading, and it lands in your inbox with the completion photos once everything is tested.
Why do older Coogee homes need switchboard upgrades?
Most pre-1940 cottages around this postcode were wired long before induction cooktops and car chargers existed. The board ends up the bottleneck, so it gets sorted before anything else does.
How does your pricing work?
We don't charge by the hour, so you get a fixed written price before we start that covers the labour, the materials, the testing and the GST. If the job turns up something that was impossible to see, everything stops until you have a new price.
